About Us

The Associated College Libraries of Central Pennsylvania (ACLCP) is a non-profit association of academic and research libraries that focuses primarily on the professional development of its members. Founded in 1965, ACLCP offers two annual conferences and a variety of continuing-education grant opportunities for all library staff. In terms of resource sharing, students, faculty, and staff affiliated with ACLCP institutions may take advantage of the association’s reciprocal borrowing agreements.

ACLCP’s Purpose

  • To share information and library resources as well as the expertise of individuals
  • To set a standard of leadership and visionary thinking for member institutions
  • To enhance the knowledge and expertise of member staffs
  • To promote access to evolving technologies

Leadership Team

In 2011, ACLCP’s Board of Directors adopted an alphabetical rotation for the Executive Committee, whereby each library’s director (or designee) assumes the successive roles of Vice Chair, Chair, and Past Chair over a three-year period. The Executive Committee meets four times per year and is responsible for the day-to-day governance of the association, from staffing and budget oversight to the implementation of ACLCP’s annual operating plan.

The Board of Directors meets twice per year and provides guidance to ACLCP in fulfillment of its mission. All directors (or designees) of member libraries serve on the Board. Board duties include setting membership dues, considering bylaws amendments, and approving policy revisions.

The Programs Committee meets monthly to oversee the planning of the association’s fall and spring conferences. With input from the Executive Committee, the Programs Committee identifies each conference topic, potential speakers, and event schedule. The association’s Administrative Assistant provides support for venue selection, registration, advertising, and other logistics.

The Special Interest Group (SIG) Chairs also play a leadership role within ACLCP, as they plan and lead the SIG discussion groups at the fall and spring conferences. In addition, the SIG Chairs are encouraged to run workshops, webinars, and other professional development sessions throughout the year. (The SIG Chairs may apply for funding to cover the costs of these events.)
